Mission Statement
The mission of CubaResponde is to foster the development of a Free Press in Cuba. The aphorism of “No one has a monopoly on the truth” is our guiding principle and it is reflected in the articles posted in this blog, which include divergent points of view about Cuba’s reality. Our editorial stance primarily aims to clarify perspectives found in Cuba’s official press, often mirrored by the international press. CubaResponde intends to contrast these views with information obtained from independent journalists in Cuba and other reliable international journalistic sources. Censorship in Cuba denies individuals access to points of view different from official government publications. This limitation is the rational for the existence of blogs like Cubaresponde, which seek to promote a Free Press with unhindered internet access for posting of information, ideas and views divergent from the official outlook.
